Maureen Thompson, M.Ed is a Special Education teacher and Behavior Specialist. In addition to being an award-winning Special Education teacher, she ran after school Social Skills programs for fifteen years in the Roaring Fork Valley. Maureen is no stranger to the trauma of mental illness. After having experienced her husband’s suicide in 2006, she realized the importance of social-emotional wellness and forming healthy relationships starts at a young age. She believes all kids deserve to have fun, enjoy friendships and understand how to manage emotions and stress. She has a gift for connecting with kids and truly believes EVERYONE benefits from improved social-emotional wellness.

Lindsay Selig, M.A., is a School Counselor and Prevention Specialist. Lindsay has always had a passion for working with children. In 2000, after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Michigan State University, she started her journey working with children in an after-school program and as a Preschool teacher. After seeing the amount of stress today’s youth are under, she enrolled in the University of Northern Colorado’s School Counseling master’s degree program. After being an elementary school counselor for 8 years on the front range, she and her family decided to move to Carbondale. She has continued her dedication to helping kids develop necessary life skills and social-emotional wellbeing over the years. In addition to being co-founder of RMKC, she currently works as the Prevention Specialist at Carbondale Middle School and is trained as a Peace-Keeper Facilitator.

Katie Alderson is a Behavioral Therapist and Artist. Katie has been living in the Roaring Fork Valley for 10 years. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelors Degree in Studio Art with an emphasis in Performance Art. Under the Behavioral Analysis Certification Board Katie has held the necessary credentials to practice as a Registered Behavioral Therapist for 4 years. Her years in Early Childhood Education, youth development, and programming extend far beyond that. She enjoys discovering and nurturing the youth in her community through play-based, child-led, exploration. She currently resides in Glenwood Springs with her pet tortoise, Bernice.
